How To Write..

(Source: here)
Yuhuuu, It has been a long time ago that I didn't write in English in my blog. Related to the topic, maybe it is easy to explain it in English.

Yesterday, in the middle of meeting, my Boss gave us a brief explanation about how to make a good technical writing. Our job enforce us to understand this matter, the type of communication for the client. We persuade them to do something, but give then options to be choose. He said that there are 4 point that need to be understood by technical writer. He called them TRAC which stand for Technically, Readability, Appearance, and Comprehensibility.

I would not explain all of this. Just the main point. Talked about main point, we need to identify and define the four points in our Technical writing:
1. Main Point-The What
Strong, simple and straight forward main points at the beginning of each and every part of the document. My Boss always describe it as JEGER or BOMBASTIC things in our report.
2. Justification-The Way
Brief sentences about why we conclude the Main Points
3. Discussion - The How
Sentences that explained how we comes up with that justification
4. What's Next - The Transition Part
Bridging the part of the document

There are 3 most common writing's style:
1. Chronological -sequence, based on time of occurance
2. Deductive -The four point is the style of Deductive Writing. And usually use for Technical Writing.
3. Inductive - The writing style that usually used in Art Writing such as Novel. Give the detail explanation in the beginning and conclude that in the end of story.

I am use to use all of this type of writing. Point 2 for my career, while Point 1 and Point 3 for my hobbies. Such as this blog. Make it sequential, tell it, and conclude it at the end.

"Don't write merely to be understood. Write so that you cannot possibly be misunderstood"
(Robert Louis Stevenson)
